Barcelona is a unique city that perfectly combines art, gastronomy and innovation.
The city, which overlooks the Mediterranean Sea, is located in the autonomous region of Catalunya (Spain), where residents and tourists can enjoy traditional food-markets inspired by the Mediterranean cuisine, incredible Gaudí’s must-see monuments such as Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló and Park Güell, and warm temperatures all year long.
Barcelona is one of the most visited cities in the world, welcoming over 3 million of international tourists on average every year. It is the centre of numerous museums, art centres and unique avant-garde architecture, which complements a dynamic cosmopolitan atmosphere.
Did you know that in 2011 the Responsible Tourism Institute (RTI) awarded Barcelona as the first Biosphere city in the world?
Barcelona’s commitment to sustainability, especially in the touristic sector, it is today translated in a series of initiatives and programs that make the city a hub of innovation, science and research. Currently, the capital of Catalunya hosts several vertical gardens, supports green initiatives such as implementing the “Superilles” program and the opening of the “Innova Lab” and it is the headquarter of more than 300 businesses working towards sustainability in tourism.
