I strongly believe that good leaders are as important as good entrepreneurs. However, not all entrepreneurs are known to have the best societal impact. The world we live in is constantly changing, and courageous entrepreneurial leaders must ensure that future generations are equipped with right skills to utilise their full potential.
As a female leader, I have noticed along my professional trajectory that there are not many women in leading roles. I believe that together, women and men, we can change this situation. I have experienced that inclusive teams, comprising different backgrounds, genders, and disciplines, have greater and positive entrepreneurial impact in society. It is in our leader’s and educators’ role to inspire, develop, and assist those who are willing to engage and demonstrate their motivation in making this world a better place.
Next to that, we need to change the way that entrepreneurial activities are evaluated by society, which should not be reduced to profit or self-interest. It is in this direction that I continuously strive to grow, develop, and reach my goals. My professional trajectory has led me to the two main leadership roles I hold today: 1) Team lead Business Development at Novel-T, where I help others to bring their innovations to the market, and 2) Entrepreneur, leading two academic spinoff companies from the University of Twente: FlowBeams and BuBclean.
Receiving the recognition as Female Leader of the Year will help me fortify my efforts and inspire other females to step up and become leaders themselves.
