Massive disruptions like pandemics once more proved the life-saving role of supply chain and logistics management (SC&LM). We should probe assumptions and ask: For a “new normal” crying out for better environmental, economic, social, and cultural care, how can we optimize supply chain performance in times of ambiguity? How can we inspire young minds to foster sustainability in business management? As a dedicated educator and researcher, I aspire to lead by example: I set optimistic yet realistic goals and strive for critical thinking and evidence-based problem-solving, all while showing compassion to and helping boost the confidence of my diverse network of change agents (students, researchers, young entrepreneurs). I enjoy interacting with and learning about people, involving them in projects by elevating their potentialities, enthusing them for a purpose with determination, and celebrating achievements of collaboration and collegiality. I spearheaded an ambitious new major in SC&LM, the graduates of which are lauded by employers. I founded the world’s first and only Centre for Research in Sustainable Supply Chain Analytics (CRSSCA) at Dalhousie University, Canada. Besides marshaling resources in steering CRSSCA into a go-to research powerhouse of intellectual and scholarly inquiry, I have organized numerous workshops that bring together distinguished academics and esteemed practitioners to share their knowledge on the latest trends, cutting-edge research, and best practices in SC&LM. These workshops have provided a unique opportunity to cross-pollinate ideas and network while showcasing students’ accomplishments in research and industry-partnered experiential learning projects.
