Calliope Rodopoulou's leadership and contributions over her 40-year career in the education industry, have been impactful both globally and locally. She has created Metropolitan College, the largest TNE provider in SE Europe. The core strength of her achievements lies in her commitment to develop strategies that help learners develop the international and intercultural competencies required for a global career and to provide access to the experiences and mindsets required for global engagement in an age of rapid change.

IMPACT STORY

Impacting lifes

During a period of disruption, due to the economic crisis and the Covid Pandemic, Calliope Rodopoulou has developed Metropolitan College to an impressive portfolio of more than 70 TNE programmes at undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) level. Impressively, these programmes are delivered simultaneously in 8 state-of-the-art campuses nationwide, in collaboration with 7 global universities. These, include University of East London, Queen Margaret University, Oxford Brookes University, Solent University, Southampton, Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, University of Arizona and the University of North Alabama.
Ms. Rodopoulou has also pioneered in South-East of Europe by creating the Global University Hub, the region’s largest university hub, home to key global education institutions, offering online, academic and professional programs.
Calliope Rodopoulou has also built up an extensive record of humanitarian work, in order to assist and comfort groups that have been affected by the successive economic crisis and the Covid Pandemic.

Lessons learned

In recognition of her leadership and contribution, Calliope Rodopoulou was named ‘Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2017’ in Greece.
A further distinction for her overall contribution to education was awarded to Metropolitan College’s CEO Calliope Rodopoulou in the International PIEoneer Awards 2022, held annually and aim to honor and reward, on a global level, the individuals and the organizations which adopt optimum and innovative practices in the realm of education.
She is a firm believer of focusing on the end goal and perseverance.

FUTURE PLANS

What's coming?

Calliope Rodopoulou is further pursuing the alignment of operational activities with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals by optimizing systems and processes that are responsive to student and staff needs, regardless of geographical location. Her future plans also include further growth in Greece as well as the internationalization of Metropolitan College.
