Summary

Our mission is to help atypical profiles from the least privileged categories to progress, succeed, set a course and arouse their ambition. Entrepreneurship is an opportunity and a way to integrate into the professional world; learning and personalized support increase their chances of achieving their goals and give meaning to their future. The entrepreneurial school is conceived as a global system. It integrates young future entrepreneurs for 3 years, with a double objective: to develop one's own activity step by step and to graduate with a bachelor degree.

Mission: access to employment and integration into the economic world

Target: those who want to become an entrepreneur, grow and build themselves, "get out of it" whatever their social, economic and educational environments.

Resources: teachers, coaches, committed partners who are convinced that they can reduce the social divide by working for a better equality of opportunity

Means: a unique blended system over a long period of time, reassuring, safe, original and inclusive for people with unusual backgrounds, far from higher education.

“L’Ecole Entrepreneuriale” is the commitment of a leading business school, promoting equal opportunity by exploring a unique alternative path. It joins the French concept of “micro-lycée”, deployed in some high schools, and completes their entrepreneurial discovery scheme. All the projects deployed are stages in the acquisition of skills and knowledge useful for the success and integration of each student in the business world. https://youtu.be/H3v1a-TVfrQ

The blended learning program allows us to offer students varied and gamified training content in order to encourage their involvement and motivation. Face-to-face courses are complemented by remote self-study modules, accessible on our LMS Crossknowledge, at any time. These modules are composed of several types of multimedia resources (videos, off-the-shelf training sessions corresponding to short e-learning modules, summary sheets, practice sheets, quizzes, readings...). They can also consult off-the-shelf modules on other platforms.
All of these resources help students assimilate knowledges, improve their skills and go further in their learning.

With 14,800 students, KEDGE is responsible for future generations. Sustainable and inclusive development is at the heart of the school's vision, with a strong focus on the future. KEDGE is determined to train and empower "positive changemakers" who can create the worlds of tomorrow and build a better future.
The school joined the Global Compact initiative in 2005, and became a pioneer of social and environmental responsibility. Since 2015, KEDGE has aligned its approach with the United Nations' international programme: the Sustainable Development Goals. In 2019, we received the Sustainable Development and Social Responsibility label for higher education (SD&SR label).
In 2021, KEDGE adopted its 2025 strategy in line with this long-term commitment: sustainability and inclusiveness will be two of its five key pillars and the school is committed to being an original, sustainable and inclusive school. Therefore, KEDGE commits to:
being a creative, adventurous and flexible school which is driven by innovation and experimentation.
engaging with its stakeholders (students, employees, teachers-researchers, partners, etc.) through an openinded approach to the future.
contributing to the social and ecological transformation of higher education along with other schools.
For the past 15 years, an annual report has been published on the progress of all our stakeholders' actions: the Sustainable Development Report (https://student.kedge.edu/about-kedge/csr/sustainability-report-and-publications-kedge).

IMPACT STORY

Impacting lifes

Audrey has worked for 15 years in the accompaniment of the public on the digital and ecological transitions. Responsible mother of two children, she created an online boutique and had to overcome life's trials. Courageous, creative, sensitive to clothing waste and the distress of women in difficulty, she rebounded with a project to create a line of recomposed clothing from donated or cheaply sold clothes and to set up a large collaborative sewing workshop. Audrey dreams of being a stylist with her brand Vertuoza, a production company with an environmental and social impact, committed to the social and economic reintegration of women victims of violence. She learned to create models, to cut textiles, to sew and at the entrepreneurial school to create her start up, to manage budgets, human resources, contracts, marketing, to understand her market and to sell.

To complete the life scholarship, she provided administrative work at the entrepreneurial school in 2022. She presented her studies, supported presentations in front of juries, learned to overcome pitfalls, correct mistakes, improve her project. Roxx Moda Solidaires is launched!

Audrey has just received an award and the encouragement of the French Minister of Solidarity and Social Economy during a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Paris. A success she could not imagine two years ago. A dream that is gradually becoming reality.

LEARNINGS

Lessons learned

Identifying, reassuring, convincing and accompanying entrepreneurs in precarious situations is not an easy task. We had to identify, understand and convince the relays, the partners of the integration and inclusion mechanisms to reach young people we did not know and who could doubt our commitment.
Working with a group of students with heterogeneous profiles and backgrounds, far from higher education, teaches us to rethink the acquisition of skills and knowledge, to imagine new pedagogical blended formats to become more agile in order to improve our adaptation to obtain progress and a lasting commitment.
Working with entrepreneurs whose projects are unique requires individualizing the program by fostering group dynamics, sharing and meeting within a collective of peers evolving together for three years.
Engaging independent entrepreneurs in a progressive and collective three-year program is a challenge that mobilizes the energy and pedagogical skills of our staff and teachers and enriches us with a new experience that is useful to our usual work. It changes our vision and practice of teaching and coaching.
The involvement of other kedge students teaches them to experience differences, to see other forms of success, to share their skills, and to commit to working towards greater inclusion.
Corporate and partner engagement requires the ability to convince and reassure about the use of resources. It also allows companies to support new successes and prepare for a return to employment.

FUTURE PLANS

What's coming?

“L’Ecole Entrepreneuriale” relies on the commitment of the entire Kedge community. We are collectively proud to have broken down the barriers by welcoming people from different social and economic backgrounds, by creating a free course, by adapting the pedagogy and teaching, by individualizing the courses, by supporting entrepreneurial projects, and by mobilizing resources, partners and companies.
This year, the first class from Marseille will be presented to a jury for graduation by VAE and will continue to develop its entrepreneurial activities independently, while maintaining access to the kedge business nursery.
After Marseille, where we opened the school in Bordeaux last year, we will soon open it on our Paris campus. With 60 places per campus and per year, we will eventually welcome 180 tuition-free entrepreneurs who will benefit from living grants.
We would like to share our experience and the entrepreneurial school program with all higher education institutions interested in this program, which will be launched in 2020 but which we have been thinking about and working on for 10 years.]
