I am currently the Director of Entrepreneurship and Public Responsibility at Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD). I lead a team that promotes and support campus-wide entrepreneurial and social innovation initiatives of students and the community through different entities and programs. I think my impact can be appreciated in the development and articulation of a dynamic ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation at UDD which has been recognized as a national and global leader.
I have 18 years working at UDD, but I am also an alumnus that spent 6 years studying industrial engineering at the Concepción original campus. So UDD is like home and family to me. Working at the Engineering School in 2004 I became interested in entrepreneurship education and the next year I took risk and dictated the first course in this topic. In between, I did my engineering masters program at Columbia University, where I chose the most flexible curriculum I could find so I could take as many campus-wide entrepreneurship courses as possible.
Even though I have experience building startups, I consider myself more as an intrapreneur, being UDD the space where I have been able to deploy some of my skills and character, such as high commitment, risk taking, creativity, strategic and critical thinking. I think this approach led our high leadership to invite me to be part of the main committee that developed the current educational model of UDD. I am still part of this board and remain as the Academic Leader of its Entrepreneurship track.
