The mission of Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD) is to serve Chile by generating influential knowledge and training 21st century changemakers who not only excel in their respective fields but also in interdisciplinary approaches to problem solving when addressing the local and global challenges faced by society.
In 2020, the UDD celebrated its 30th anniversary, having started with just 100 business undergraduate students in a rented house in downtown Concepción, 500 km south of Santiago. Since then, the university has grown into a top-rated academic institution with a focus on entrepreneurial education, serving 15,000 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students across a diverse range of schools and disciplines, earning recognition for its thriving entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.
At UDD's Vice Presidency of Innovation and especially at its Entrepreneurship Department, our mission is to develop this ecosystem by providing training and support to any single student who want to explore venturing or need help increasing the success probability of their venture through methodologies, tools, mentoring, networks, and funding opportunities. In the last 5 years, we have provided support to over 1,200 startups in different development stages through specialized training and incubating programs. Furthermore, every UDD student is required to take at least one entrepreneurship course during their academic career, with more than 70 undergraduate courses offered on entrepreneurship topics in 2022. These courses not only focus on creating new businesses but also aim to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and skillset to make a positive change in any area of life.
