Summary

Being as academicians and at same time as Director, in one of the top research universities in the region, University Putra Malaysia (UPM) had unique and culturally diverse ethnic community that offers interesting experience for all. UPM is the first Malaysian higher education institution and sixth in South-East Asia to receive the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business Accreditation (AACSB). I really enjoyed this career where at the same time embed experiencial learning in my courses. Courses on Entrepreneurship and Service Management really give high impact not only to students, but also for the community which students engage as part of their assignment or task within the semester. Having knowledge transferred or shared with community making both entity appreciate 'unique experience'. I'm actively engage my students with community such as orphanage house by teaching them added value improving their cookies for sale! Also guide the community to improve in increasing productivity of chilly to be sold. As a leader, become a role model for staff and students was important. Having staff and students closed to us with endless support really make us 'touch' and more motivated moving forward high impact experience turning to reality. Besides entrepreneurship activities, volunteerism also concerned in order to closed and support community with university.

LEARNINGS

Lessons learned

Experiential learning and engagement with all entities of communities such as staff, students, ALUMNI, community around the campus, micro business owner, disabilities, single parent, school children really make us 'wake up"!. I'm down to the earth, enjoyed, engaged, understand their feeling especially talking about entrepreneurship. With our little helps, knowledge, participate, engaged, support will make lots of different to them, those who need to survived and compete in this digital world. Engage and contribute back not only among local entities however, it goes global.
As a leader, team play important role. Their understanding with human touch make the entrepreneurial program run smoothly. Moving forward towards smart partnership with new technology from UPM such as in agriculture may bring high impact with all community involved. Via having local and international students may well spread the impact of any programs involved.
Spirit working in team with relevant channel of communication will create a clear path achieving goal not only to top management, however to every single one in the institution.
