IMPACT STORY

Impacting lifes

Neha Tuli has joined Chitkara University to finish her doctorate in computer science. She says that Chitkara University ignited an entrepreneurial passion in her that she was unaware of. It prompted her to launch a startup based on personal experience. Neha’s niece was a specially-abled kid. She wanted to assist specially-abled children by tackling the issue of a lack of interactive tools and learning resources. She along with Shivam (another computer science student at Chitkara University) co-founded a social venture, '6DOF Solutions Private Limited and then embarked on a university-supported journey that saw them create a lab-scale prototype.
They participated in the Chitkara Innovation Incubator Foundation's (CIIF) six-month incubation programme and received seed funding of $50,000 from CIIF, Chitkara University, as well as mentorship.
By using augmented reality technology they have developed an interactive, engaging learning kit which allows specially-abled kids to learn basic English language skills and live coloring simulations. With this innovative technology, specially-abled kids can learn and visualize efficiently for a better and quick understanding.
"Chitkara University is a truly entrepreneurial university."One of the best things about CIIF,Chitkara University is that it has such a vast network of startups, mentors & investors who are always available to support, help & guide you," they said.
The startup has commercially launched their products in the market. One of the most rewarding aspects of incubating & mentoring 6DOF Solutions has been the bond we have developed with Neha and Shivam. They have volunteered to serve as mentors for emerging entrepreneurs.

LEARNINGS

Lessons learned

India is ranked third in the world in terms of the number of registered startups, and in order to maintain the current rate of growth, a strong ecosystem for fostering innovation and startups must be established. We need to create an entrepreneurial ecosystem in every college and university that can help startups at the idea stage and mentor them throughout their journey of developing new technologies and commercialising new products. More than anything else, startups at this stage require the right kind of mentor who can share their vision and dreams and who shares the founder's entrepreneurial passion.

There is no such thing as an impossible dream. We need to build a more humane, sensitive, and inclusive entrepreneurial ecosystem. Only then will we be able to find solutions to the global issues that are afflicting today's generations.

Entrepreneurship is a mindset, not a career. Whatever you do or where you are, if you approach it with an entrepreneurial mindset, you will be more efficient and effective, and the results will be far superior.

FUTURE PLANS

What's coming?

Chitkara University will empower founders who will use new technology to solve some of the world's most pressing problems. More founders will have a positive impact on the world if they are properly supported.

Chitkara University intend to create a "world-class incubation ecosystem" in which innovators and entrepreneurs from all over the world, regardless of class, creed, or geographical boundaries, can collaborate seamlessly to create solutions for current and future global challenges.

Chitkara University will create a holistic entrepreneurial ecosystem with innovation labs and infrastructure that will allow startups to handle product development, testing, qualification, and implementation while remaining accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We will also be taking up promotion of incubation in strategic areas for the country that is non-existent in the country today.
